Coir Defibering Unit - Haritha Activity Group of Kunnamkulam ULB has started operations in Green Park ( Fertilizer Production Center) , Kurukkanpara, Kunnamkulam. Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran along with the presence of Municipal Vice-Chairman Shri P.M Suresh, Standing Committee Chairpersons Smt Geetha Sasi, Smt Misha Sebastian, Smt Suma Gangadharan, Shri K.K Anandhan, Ward Councilor Smt Vidhya Renjith, CDS Chairpersons Smt Soumya Anilan, Smt Shiji Nikesh, Member Secretary Smt Sini , Vice President of Public Planning Shri V. Manojkumar visited the unit.

On 17 November 2014, Hon Finance Minister Dr. Thomas Issac visited the kunnamkulam Green Park ( Fertilizer Production Center),      

The main source of waste disposal, Coir Powder, was brought from Tamil Nadu and The idea was given by the Hon Finance Minister Dr. Thomas Issac to the Municipal Council that it was good to produce it locally.. The Minister assured that the necessary equipment will be provided free of charge by the Coir Board if the municipality is prepared for starting the Coir Defibering Unit.

In the building constructed by municipality, modern machineries from Kerala State Coir Machinery Manufacturing Co.Ltd (KSCMMC) has been installed. The products like Coir Fiber, Baby Fiber, Coir Pith has been produced after processing the Coconut husk using this machine.

Coir Fiber will be taken by Coir Fed. Coir Powder will given for waste disposal to Poultry farms. Coco Peat mixed with inoculum has been given to households as compost medium for waste disposal using Bio-Bin

Haritha Acitivity Group of Kudumbasree has given the responsibility to run the unit. The members of the unit are Subhashini Janardhanan, Sindhu Babu, Girija Rajan, Sheeja P.V, Premalatha, Rema Ramesh. The community entreprises fund of Rs. 1.5 lakhs has been given for operating the unit.

In association with Municipality and CDS 1 started City Livelyhood centre @ municipality shopping complex. Inagurated by Municipal chair Person Smt . Nimya Shiju. Cloth bag And Stiching unit started by members , 4 members working now in CLC

The Coir Defibering Unit - Haritha Activity Group received 1.5 lakhs as Community Entreprises Fund. The kudumbasree district project appraisal committee approved the CEF application of Coir Defibering Unit - Haritha Activity Group. The CEF distribution for Coir Defibering Unit - Haritha Activity Group has been inaugurated by Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran. Municipal Vice Chairman Sri. P.M Suresh, Municipal Secretary Sri B. Anilkumar, NULM City Project Officer Sri. Lakshmanan K.S, All standing committee chairpersons, CDS chairpersons Smt. Soumya Anilan, Smt. Shiji Nikesh, Kudumbasree CDS Member Secretary Smt Sini C.O, NULM City Mission Manager Sri Renjith Alex, NULM Community Organizer Smt Bavitha attended the programme.

Beneficiaries are from Harithakarma Seena Members. Municipality has provided room for functioning the unit and We have tied up with Chamber of commerce for buying cloth bags from our unit.

 NULM and NHM joined to organize Swasthya SHG Pariwar -health medical Camp at Town hall kitchen block.

National Urban Livelihood Mission and National Urban Health Mission joined hands together towards organising  Swasthya SHG Pariwar - Health Camp & Distribution of Ayushman Bharath Health Card for kudumbasree NHG members and Snehitha Calling Bell beneficiaries. The programme has been conducted at Mini Hall -Town Hall , Kunnamkulam.The programme has been inaugaurated by Smt Seetha Raveendran, Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson. Municipal Vice Chairperson Shri P.M Suresh presided over the programme. Dr Satheesan - District Programme Manager of Aarogya Keralam Project gave a description regarding the Ayushman Bharath Health Card and its benefits to the NHG members. Shri Firoz - District Co-ordinator of CHIAK explained about the PM - JAY scheme to the beneficiaries. Health Standing Committee Chairperson Smt Suma Gangadharan, Welfare Standing Committee Chairman Shri K.K Murali, Councilor Shri Sujeesh, Kudumbasree CDS Chairperson Smt Soumya Anilan and Smt Shiji Nikesh gave the felicitation speech.  The welcome speech has been given by NULM City Mission Manager Shri Renjith Alex and Vote of thanks has been given by Kudumbasree CDS 1 Chairperson Smt Soumya Anilan. Around 200 members attended the programme.

A get together of Cancer Patients in the kunnamkulam municipal area was conducted at kunnamkulam municipality on 05/09/2019.  The function was inaugurated by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt. Seetha Raveendran . Vice Chairman Shri. P.M Suresh presided over the meeting. Standing committee chairpersons Suma Gangadharan, Misha Sebastian, Kunnamkulam Municipal Secretary Shri K.K Manoj, Councilors Shri K.A Aziz, Shri O.G Baji, Shri K.B Salim, Health Supervisor Shri K.S Lakshmanan, CDS chairperson Smt. Soumya Anilan, Smt. Shiji Nikesh, NULM City Mission Manager Shri Renjith Alex has came up with felicitation speeches. 

This new initiative has been started under the leadership of Kunnamkulam Municipal Secretary Shri. K.K Manoj. .Kunnamkulam Municipality aims to provide better opportunities for skilled persons who were cancer patients and those who want to engage in various employment opportunities to develop skills needed for skill development and to encourage them to start entreprises in various sectors as well. Around 30 persons participated in the function.

A 3 Days Food Fest - Amrutham Karkidakam 2019 has been conducted on 24/07/2019, 25/07/2019 & 26/07/2019 at Kunnamkulam Municipality . Marunnu Kanji (medicinal porridge) has become an integral part of the cleansing process.

The medicinal porridge, made of various herbs and ayurveda medicines along with rice gruel, has been served along with Pathila Thoran or a dish made with ten leaves. The food fest was inaugurated by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt. Seetha Raveendran . Vice Chairman Shri. P.M Suresh. Standing committee chairpersons Smt. Suma Gangadharan, Smt. Misha Sebastian, Smt Geetha Sasi, Shri K.K Murali, Shri Anandhan, Kunnamkulam Municipal Secretary Shri K.K Manoj, All Ward Councilors , NULM City Project Officer Shri K.S Lakshmanan, CDS chairpersons Smt. Mazhavillu 2019 - A get together of persons with disabilities in the kunnamkulam municipal area was conducted at kunnamkulam municipality on 28/07/2019.  The function was inaugurated by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt. Two new NULM SEP- Group entreprises " Mazhavill Cleaning Materials Unit " and Mazhavill Paper Bag Unit has been formed and the inauguration of the cleaning materials products & paper bags made by the PWD beneficiaries  has been displayed in the function. Mazhavill Paper Bag Unit - 5 Families included where the unit started by availing NULM - SEP Loan of Rs. 1,00,000 from Kerala Gramin Bank, Kunnamkulam. The unit started with 4 PWD beneficiaries and Mazhavill Cleaning Materials Unit - 4 Families included where the unit started by availing Revolving Fund of Rs. 20,000 from ADS. The unit started with 4 PWD beneficiaries. Kunnamkulam Municipality provided fund for 1 day training for cleaning materials unit and Kudumbasree District Mission provided fund for 7 days training for paper bag unit.

Sales and Marketing of both the products were managed by kunnamkulam municipality. The products were promoted through the monthly markets and also through Kudumbasree Bazaar Supermarket going to start at Patturaikkal, Thrissur and Agro Bazaar in Thrissur. Also planning to promote the products through Amazon, Midnik and kudumbasree bazaar online portal and also looking forward to introduce the products in exhibitions, trade fairs, saras melas etc.
