Anugraha cotton waste unit an initiative taken by five members of Anugraha SHG of Mannath Ward was a new thinking by a bunch of kudumbashree members, apart from the typical enterprises they show the courage to travel through a different and new way. they decided to make the income from cotton waste.
They collected the waste cotton cloth pieces from Tirupur, the cotton city and converted it into cotton waste which is used in hard ware shops and paint shops for various purposes. They collect the cotton waste cloth from Tirupur at the rate of Rs 26 to Rs 32 per kilogram, if it is white cloth it will cost around Rs 70/Kilogram.
These cotton pieces using the blade they will separate it into cotton waste ,they will get 950 gram of cotton waste from 1 kilogram of waste cotton cloth. For a packet of one kilogram of cotton cloth they are charging Rs 85 to Rs 90 per and for white cotton waste they are charging Rs160 per packet. They had made arrangements with a company named DBC-Mavelikara for distributing the material to shops. They are distributing the materials from Cherthala border to Kollam border including Pathanamthitta
They started the unit on 7/2/2015 formally by taking a loan of 8.90 lakhs from Vijay bank under SJSRY scheme(loan sanctioned on 2014 November). Presently apart from the group members there are four staffs working in this enterprise. The members and staffs are taking Rs 200 /day as salary. After the salary and other expenses including bank loans the unit is getting a profit somewhat around Rs 10000 to Rs 12000 per month.
