The Hon Minister for Fisheries, Harbor Engineering and Coir has inaugurated “Venad Purified Drinking Water”- RO Plant, a venture of Kollam Municipal Corporation, in association with Mithra Group (an activity group of 5 Kudumbashree members). It aims to ensure the health of city people by providing good quality drinking water at highly affordable cost to demote the exploitation of private companies in this industry. It is an ideal model of poverty eradication through women empowerment. An amount of Rs 28.5lakhs has been invested to set up the plant with a capacity of 2000 ltr/hour
