Identity Card distribution for street vendors progressing Updated On 2017-10-27

Identity Card distribution for all eligible street vendors in the urban areas is progressing in the state. The distribution is being executed as per the results of the survey conducted by NULM in the state through Kudumbashree. It is planned to complete the identity card distribution by 31 October 2017.

In the survey conducted by Kudumbashree in 93 Urban Local Bodies in the state, 19863 street vendors were identified out of which 16896 are men, 2966 are women and one is a transgender. ID cards will be distributed to all of them. Till now, ID cards have been distributed 1924 street vendors of 11 Urban Local bodies. Aadhar Number, Phone Number, details of the things they sell, the street where they sell etc will be notified in the ID card.

The welfare programme for the street vendors envisages to improve the infrastructure and therby to improve the lifestyle.Training programmes for improving the life skills of street vendors will also be included in the programme.

Kudumbashree dazzles at Bharat Parv Updated On 2017-10-26

Kudumbashree shines at Bharat Parv, event organised by Ministry of Tourism at Rajpath Lawns, near India Gate, New Delhi from 23 -25 October 2017. The event was inaugurated by Shri. Rajanath Singh, Minister of Home Affairs, Government of India. Shri. Alphonse Kannamthanam, Minister of Tourism, Government of India presided over the function.The event celebrated the rich cultural, ethnic, cuisine diversity of India and to exhibit India's richness of cultural diversity before world and thereby promoting the tourism prospects of India.

Paryatan Parv, an all India tourism promotion event was organised by the Ministry of Tourism from 3-25 October 2017. Bhaarat Parv was organised as part of Paryatan Parv. Traditional Art forms, cultural dances, ethnic handicrafts and cuisines was staged at this three day event.

Along the with traditional art forms and handicrafts, Kerala's ethnic range of cuisines were presented by the Cafe Kudumbashree units promoted by Kudumbashree Mission before the global and national gathering that visited the event place. Two Cafe units, each from Alappuzha and Kozhikode, exhibited the wide range of ethnic tastes particularly belonging to central Travancore and Malabar respectively. Cafe Kudumbashree food court got wide appreciation and very good responses from the masses gathered to view the celebration of India's culture. The food stalls of Kerala attracted the crowds for the entire duration of event.

The closing ceremony of Parytan Parv and Bhaarat Parv was inaugurated by Shri. Arun Jaitley, Minister of Finance, Government of India on which Shri. Alphonse Kannamthanam, Minister of Tourism, Government of India was the Chief Guest.

Gender Sensitization Workshop for Kudumbashree Officials Updated On 2017-10-25

State Resource Centre for Women organises Gender Sensitization Workshop for Kudumbashree Officials of State-District Missions. As a start, a two day Workshop was conducted including 50 officials at Hotel Mariarani, Sreekaryam, Thiruvananthapuram on 23 October 2017. The workshop was inaugurated by Vidhu Vincent, Film Director. Harikishore IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree Mission presided over the function.

Within March 2018, Gender Sensitization Workshop will be conducted for all officials of Kudumbashree Mission.

The workshop envisions to give clear awareness about gender equality to the officials of Kudumbashree. Through such training programmes, work place relationship between men and women could be improved and thereby could create a better work atmosphere.

During the time of organising programmes for NHG women, this awareness would undoubtedly help them. And thereby the awareness about gender equality can therefore be communicated to the NHG level.

Classes were given on the topics such as Personality structure of men and women, attitude towards women's development, Gender analysis-An introduction, stages of women empowerment, Gender- planning and observations, violences against women, the ways to resist such violences, the sexual discrimination women face in today's society, gender inequality, the social constraints that resists from attaining gender equality and the activities to overcome such issues.Mary Kappan and trainer Roshan Chandran led the classes.

'Manhole' directed by Vidhu Vincent was screened during the programme.

Map My ME Updated On 2017-10-24

Following the trends in this digital era Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission acted a little forward and launched 'Map My ME'. Its as part of the 'Map my Home' project launched by Kannur District Collector which marks Government offices, other institutions and shops in Google Maps that Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission marked all the Micro Enterprises in the district.

300 Micro Enterprises were marked in this manner with the help of CDS accountants and grama panchayath technical assistants.

A database including the basic details, the team strength and financial details of the Micro Enterprises were prepared in that manner. The fields in the data base included UID No., Name of the Unit, LSGD, Location, Products / Services category, number of employees, bank loan details, subsidy availed from Kudumbashree, loan availed from NHG, approximate sales revenue per month, approximate number of working days per month etc.

It is also planned to launch a mobile application incorporating these details with the help of National Informatic Centre.

Therefore the customers could easily get the Name, location, photo address and contact number of the Micro Enterprises in a few clicks.

Kudumbashree plans to launch Broiler Chicken Updated On 2017-10-23

Kudumbashree, a pioneer in introducing collective group efforts by women self help groups is stepping in to contain the prevailing uncertainty in broiler production. Through the convergence with departments such as Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation, Animal Husbandry Department, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Local Self Government Department Kudumbashree Mission plans to launch Kudumbashree Broiler Chicken to the market.

The main objectives of the programme include to provide a steady income for Kudumbashree members through broiler chicken production, to ensure safe and clean chicken meat to consumers at reasonable price and to provide a steady and non fluctuating market price for broiler chicken.

In the first phase, 1000 units will be selected and later remaining units will be selected in a phased manner, an average of 100 units will be established in each of the districts in the first phase. The converging departments will provide one day old broiler chicken to the units and will provide training to the beneficiaries. It is expected that the project will ensure employment opportunity to 5000 Kudumbashree members in a phased manner.

As per existing Panchayath Livestock Farm licensing Rules 2012, poultry farms rearing more than 100 birds require licensing. The minimum area required for 15 birds is 1 cent and hence for 1000 birds this come to 66 cents.

By this project Kudumbashree envisages to provide safe, clean and healthy meat to the consumers and will ensure fair pricing of broiler chicken industry.

Hon'ble Chief Minister launches Kudumbashree School Updated On 2017-10-21

Kudumbashree School aiming at the personality development and social, cultural, educational empowerment of women was officially launched by Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister, Government of Kerala at Penpol Ground, Vilappil Panchayath on 21 October 2017. "Kudumbashree Women should be more alert about the social disasters existing in the society and should try to become the hope and consolation of their own areas".Minister said.

Kudumbashree School, the informal education programme which is executed coordinating with the NHGs envisages to improve the intellectual quality of common women. For this, information on different arena are given to them. As part of the state wide launch, district wise launch was also planned and successfully executed in every district. Ministers, MLAs, MPs also took part in the programme. Kudumbashree school enables the women to be aware of the need of social commitment and equip them to be part of the campaigns against alcohol and drugs.

Retired school teachers, experts from social, cultural and different other sectors will be given training to Kudumbashree women. In addition to this, 6 Resource persons were selected from every ward. That is, 1.19 lakh ward level teachers from 19854 wards will become part of this programme. Two hour training will be given to NHG women for a tenure of 6 weeks. Those who complete 12 hours of Kudumbashree School training will be given certificates. For the successful implementation of the programme, Kudumbashree Mission had ensured the convergence with different departments.

Through Kudumbashree School, the women will be made aware of the different programmes executed by Kudumbashree in the state. Kudumbashree Mission not only aims at the social, financial and cultural empowerment but also at the intellectual empowerment as well. The programme also aims at retrieving the indigenous agricultural culture of Kerala.

Kudumbashree shines at Kerala Cultural and trade Fair 2017 Updated On 2017-10-20

Kudumbashree shined at the fourth editions of Kerala cultural and trade fair organised by Information and Public Relations Department of Kerala as part of the interstate information and public relations event held at Bengaluru from 14- 20 October 2017. The trade fair was inaugurated by Dr K.T Jaleel, Minister for Local Self Government Department, Government of Kerala on 14 October 2017.

Kudumbashree had marked its scintillating presence at the event by hosting the Kerala food court delivering more than 30 unique dishes and 9 Product stalls with 400 plus products made by Kudumbashree women entrepreneurs. The total sales at the commercial stalls were around Rs 3 lakhs and that of the food stalls were around Rs 5.5 lakhs. 7 Micro Enterprise Consultants, 2 entrepreneurs and 30 women members from 9 cafe units participated at the fair.

Nine cafe units from Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kasargod and Kannur rendered all renowned local dishes with all the essence of being at home. A theme stall exhibiting the scale and scope of activities that Kudumbashree Mission had ventured into, to bring collective social change and empowerment was also set up at the fair. It also staged the premium product range of Kudumbashree and the journals to propagate learning about the organisation. The theme stall claimed many acclamation for its neat presentation and as the best kept stall at the event .

The 9 commercial stalls representing 9 participating district missions of Kudumbashree got good responses for bringing products with purity, homeliness and quality and was wholeheartedly welcomed by the Bengaluru Malayalees.

Destitute Free Kerala :Survey through Mobile App launched Updated On 2017-10-19

The Mobile Application specially designed for the Destitute Free Kerala Programme survey was launched by Dr K.T Jaleel, Minister for Local Self Government Department, Government of Kerala at Central Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on 19 October 2017. " By this survey, all the destitute in Kerala will come under the protection of the Government". Minister said.

The programme aims to be the first state in the country to be destitute free. Government had adopted around one and a half lakh families through Asraya programme. And as 'Destitute Free Kerala' programme becomes a reality, the true beneficiaries will be protected. The beneficiaries of the Asraya programme and the newly identified destitute will be the beneficiaries of The 'Destitute Free Kerala Programme'. The 40 % of the total expenditure will be given to every panchayath as challenge fund. This amount will be used for meeting the basic needs such as food, health and education. The remaining 60 % will be met from the fund of three tier panchayaths. Through Mobile App, pictures of each and every family would be taken ad would geo tag the location they stay.

"The projects of the programme will be specially designed identifying the needs of each and every destitute family" said Shri. S. Harikishore IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree Mission. The handbook for the survey of 'Destitute Free Kerala' programme was also released at the function.

Lasitham 2017 attract masses Updated On 2017-10-19

Kudumbashree Wayanad District Mission made a mark by coming up with an innovative Balasabha activity, Lasitham 2017, which offered worshops and performances on 10 Indian art forms. Lasitham 2017, the three day workshop was conducted coordinating with Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) from 17-19 October 2017. The programme was kick started when Shri C.K. Saseendran, MLA inaugurated the programme.

The programme envisioned to transfer the art forms to the upcoming generation in its indigenous form itself. The aim of Lasitham 2017 was to popularize such art forms among the common people. Only a few schools had been giving classes on such art forms before. Even though the children were interested in learning such art forms, the financial issues had clung them backward. Through Lasitham 2017, the children were offered a golden opportunity to learn their favourite art forms from the maestros itself.

Presentations & performances on Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Mohiniyattam, Kathakali, Mural Painting, Yoga, Nangiyarkoothu and Tholppavakkooth were handled by Deepthi Parol, Deepa Saseendran, Abhaya Lakshmi, Vidya Pradeep, Kalamandalam Vijayan Asan, KR Babu, Thiagi Subhash, Dr. Aparna Nangiar and Rajeev.K respectively. Along with that Manipuri was performed by Basu Sinam and OttanThullal by Kalamandalam Mohanakrishnan.

The space for the workshops were provided by Navodaya Vidyalaya, Vythiri and the venue for the performances and presentations were provided by Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Pookode. District Nirmithi Kendra Wayanad also associated with Kudumbashree Wayand District Mission in bringing up such a novel initiative.

Swachhta Pakhwada in 195 Panchayaths Updated On 2017-10-17

Grama Samridhi Evam Swatchhta Pakhwada programme was conducted in selected 195 panchayaths which were chosen by Ministry of Rural Development for 'Mission Anthyodaya' programme in Kerala with different programmes. The programme envisages to create 5000 poverty free villages by 2019 and 50000 by 2022. As part of this, 'Gram Samridhi Evam Swatchhta Pakhwada' was conducted in 50000 panchayaths in the country from 1-15 October 2017. A two week programme was conducted in Kerala in continuation with the programme.

The programme envisions to review the status of the centrally designed programmes and to give maximum publicity for those. The programme was conducted co ordinating with the concerned grama panchayaths. As part of this, Gramasabhas were conducted in 195 Anthyodhaya Panchayaths.

The programme is framed to communicate the aims, services provided and other details of the centrally designed programmes to the bottom level of the society. The resource persons gave classes for ADS and CDS members and Asha workers on such centrally designed programmes which are executed through Kudumbashree Mission and Shuchithwa Mission.

Survey was being conducted in panchayaths regarding the developments in those programmes by the specially trained Resource Persons. The consolidated data will be recorded and would be submitted to MoRD with the approval of the concerned panchayath committees.

Kudumbashree conducted street plays using the 'Rangashree' art troupe to give promotion to the centrally designed programmes like DDUGKY, MKSP, NRLM and PMAY (G) which are executed through Kudumbashree.

Cleaning campaigns were also conducted in 195 panchayaths co ordinating with Balasabha. The photo video documentation of the whole programme was done by the Resource Persons. The District Mission co ordinated the whole programme in the district level.
