Ramanattukara Municipality was formed on 1st Novebmer 2015 by the Kerala

Govt. Order No EM3/13(3)/2014/LSGD date 25.01.2014 former it was

Ramanattukara Gramapanchayath. It is the one of the youngest municipalities in the

state. Ramanattukara is the gate way of the Kozhikode. The Municipality situated in

the South border of Calicut district in the state of Kerala, 13 KM South from Calicut

city 11 KM West from Calicut University with an area of 11.71 Sq. Km. The North

border of the municipality is river Chaliyar and Olavanna Grama Panchayath eastern

border is Vazhayoor GP and Cherukavu GP (both in Malappuram District) southern

border shares with Feroke Municipality and Chelembra GP (Malappuram District)

and western border is Chaliyar River. This municipality is included in

Ramanattukara Revenue Village of Kozhikode Taluk of Kozhikode District.

Municipality comes under Beypore assembly constituency and Kozhikode Parliament

constituency.

The Major Town Ramanattukara is a developing city. NH 213 (966) and NH

bypass passes through this municipality. Nearest railway stations are Kozhikode

Railway stations. Ramanattukara Municipality is 5 km away from Froke Station and

13 km away from Kozhikode Railway.

Municipality has a population of 35937 (2011 census) and density of

population is 3069 persons per km. The male population is 17574 and female

population is 18363 population growth rate is 18.1% during 2001-2011.

Different housing schemes implemented

1. Indira Awas Yojana (IAY)

IAY was a central government housing programme for B.P.L. families. In

2014 this programme exceeded for families have low income. Upto financial year

2011-12, the grant given for general category rs. 75000/- & for SC/ST was Rs.

1,00,000/- from 2011-12 the amount enhanced to Rs. 2,00,000/- from 201-15 the

fincancial aid again increase to Rs. 3,00,000/-

In Ramanattukara those are 463 house were completed in the IAY

scheme.

2. EMS Housing Project

As per survay conducted in 2009 there are only 96 beneficiaries in that

list. All these beneficiaries are covered in the IAY and hence in Ramanattukara the

E.M.S. Housing Project can not be implemented.

3. Panchayath Housing Scheme

Im 2013-14, 2014-15 the Ramanattukara Municipality, then the

panchayath implemented 'Panchayath Houseing Scheme'. There are 26 houses

completed in Ramanattukara in this project.

4. Conversion of twin houses to two houses

(Constructed M.N. Laksham veedu Project)

This Project is envisaged for convering twin houses contructed under

M.N. Laksham veedu project to two houses.

From 2011-12 the financial aid for this project was 2,00,000/- In 2009-

10, 4 houses construction completed at (3 General +1 SC) under this scheme. In

2016-17 there are 10 beneficiaries are selected for this project and construction is

ongoing.
