Eloor Municipality is in Ernakulam District .It is a suburb of Kochi.Eloor is an industrial area north of Kochi.It is an island of 14.21 km2 formed between two distributaries of River Periyar and is the largest industrial belt in Kerala.Eloor is a part of Kochi Metropolitan area.The neighbouring places of Eloor are Kalamassery industrial hub,Aluva,Cheranelloor and Paravur.The main spots in Eloor are Manjummel, Pathalam,Udyogamandal.Eloor is situated in the North Paravur Taluk.North boundary is the Alangadu and Kadungalloor Grama Panchayath.on the East of Eloor Municipality lies Kalamassery Municipality and Choornikkara Panchayath.On the west lies Varapuzha Grama Panchayath and the southern boundary of Eloor Municipality is Kochi Corporation and Cheranelloor Grama Panchayath.

As of 2011 India Census Eloor had a population of 31468, in which 15557 are males and 15911 are females as per report released by Census India 2011.Thus males constitue 49% of the population and females 51%

Kerala decentralised planning process wasenacted by the devolution of functional and fiscal powers to the local self government institutions.This gave sufficient statutorybacking to the decentralised planning process  and the new planning process was introduced in the State through the launching of Janakeeyasuthranam in a campaign model on 17th August 1996 by structuring the Nineth Plan as Peoples Plan.In order to cater the housinng needs of the people from the year 2000 to till ,municipality supported 343nfor new houses,under various schemes such as Janakeeyasuthranam.One lakh housing scheme,EMS housing ,BSUP housing scheme and 316 houses have been completed.
