Pathanamthitta district consists of 8 Blocks; namely Elanthoor, Konni, Koyipram, Mallapally, Pulikeezhu, Parakodu, Pandalam and Ranni.Each block contains approximately 5-9 Panchayaths.All together there are 53 Grama Panchayats and 4 Municipalities.
Kudumbashree is the poverty eradication and women empowerment Programme implemented by the State Poverty Eradication Mission (SPEM) of the Government of Kerala. The office of the District Mission started the function from 1999 onwards.
Pathanamathitta district is one of the youngest district on its formation, located in the southern part of the State of Kerala.The name of the district is the combination of two Malayalam words:” Pathanam” and “Thitta”, which together mean “array of houses on the river side”.

Kudumbashree has a three-tier structure for its women community network, with Neighborhood Groups (NHGs) at the lowest level, Area Development Societies (ADS) at the middle level (Ward level), and Community Development Societies (CDS) at the local government level. The number of CDSs in Pathanamthitta is 58. The number of ADSs is 920.Total number of NHGs is 9391.There are 291 Special NHGs (Transgender-1, Pwd-42, Elderly NHGs-248).
