Kudumbashree is the poverty eradication and women empowerment programme implemented by the State Poverty Eradication Mission (SPEM) of the Government of Kerala. Kudumbashree was set up in 1998. Kudumbashree has a three-tier structure for its women community network, with Neighbourhood Groups (NHGs) at the grass root level, Area Development Societies (ADS) at the ward level, and Community Development Societies (CDS) at the local self government level. Now Kudumbashree have 1064 CDS and 2,99,297 NHGs. 44, 91,834 women are members of these NHGs.

The Grama Kiranam Programme launched by Kudumbashree District Mission of Kasaragod stands out unique because of the innovative idea that it put forward. The District Mission thought out of the box and brought about this noble yet path breaking initiative. Fighting back all the gender issues, the district mission equipped the women of Kasaragod to prove themselves the sheer confidence that they have within. Unleashing the strength within them, the Kudumbashree Women of Kasaragod started climbing the electric posts and making LED lamps! The novel initiative put forward by Kudumbashree Kasaragod District Mission has not only bring about the women to the forefront but also proved that no task is impossible for women and in short, gender is not even a barrier for women to succeed. Ernakulam is there with destitute through 'OPPAM'

Destitute Free Kerala is a project launched by Kerala Government, aims at making Kerala a destitute free state by helping and assisting destitute. Asraya was the government project for destitute designed and being implimented by Kudumbashree from 2003 on wards. This project’s main objective is to rehabilitate the destitute in every Local self government level with the full support of the local self-governance structure. In 2007 the Government had re evaluated Asraya project and outlined continuous service project. The government had sanctioned second phase of Asraya on 2013.
Balasabha School of Dance and Music

Alike the children from financially well off families, the children from financially backward families does not get opportunities to nurture their creative talents and get trained in those arts. Fostering creativity won’t just increase the child’s chance of an artist and improve their creativity, it does really contribute to their inherent talents and most of the rural children have no opportunity to scientific training in any of the art forms. The vision of Balasabha is to focus on the overall development of children. It was in that context, Kudumbashree District Mission of Kasaragod proposed the idea of Balasabha School of Arts and Music in CDS level, giving training in dance and music. Tribal Job Mela held at Attappady

Job Mela has got very great relevance in the implementation of DDU-GKY programme that it is during such job drives that the real beneficiaries will get the opportunity to get the maximum of the programme. Only when the employer chooses the right employee, the vision of the programme would be achieved in its real sense. Kudumbashree had been implementing special activities in the tribal regions of Kerala through DDUGKY, thereby ensuring job placements for the tribal youth and thereby offering them better livelihood. So special placement drive was organised for ensuring them better jobs. Kudumbashree District Mission of Palakkad had made an attempt to conduct a placement drive that would enable the beneficiaries of DDU-GKY from Attappady, one of the important tribal regions in the district to get the maximum out of it. Fund transfer from CDS to District Mission in Ernakulam

Neighbourhood Groups (NHGs) are the primary units of the Kudumbashree community organisation. Ten to twenty women from a neighbourhood form a NHG. Membership is open to all adult women, and limited to a single membership per household. The community structure of Kudumbashree consists of these NHG, Area Development Societies (ADS) at the ward level, and Community Development Societies (CDS) at the local government level . Now 44,91,834 women are members in 2,99,297 NHGs under 1064 CDS.
Muttathe Mulla of Palakkad

Muttathe Mulla was launched to put an end to the exploitation of private money lenders who used to exploit poor people with huge rate of interest leading them to the trap of debt forever. The private money lenders used to exploit the illiterate common women financially and they were mentally tortured severely as well. The concept of Muttathe Mulla was evolved as a solution to resolve this issue and thereby to put an end to this situation. The idea itself revolutionized the whole scenario of the private money lending system. The idea was piloted in Palakkad at first and was scaled up all across the state.
