Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), the skill training and placement programme of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), implemented by Kudumbashree Mission in the state had been offering job placements in various sectors including foreign placements as well. The District Mission of Wayanad made a leap in the implementation of DDU-GKY programme in the state, by conducting Foreign Recruitment Programme in the district. Many got placed in foreign companies with better salary offered with incentives. Kudumbashree Wayanad District Mission has proved that the scope of the DDU-GKY programme is immense. The Agriculture sector in Kerala is collapsing now. Kerala now became a huge market place for all the agri-products like rice and vegetables. According to the 2011 census of India, 4.84 lakhs is the Scheduled Tribe population in Kerala. Wayanad has the highest number of tribals. Idukki and Palakkad districts are the next two that make the lion portion of the native tribal people groups in the state. There are 35 tribes in Kerala. Cholanaikkans, Kurumbas, Kattunaikans, Kadars and Koragas are the five primitive tribal groups in Kerala. They constitute nearly 5% of the total tribal population in the State.

Crimes and atrocities against women and children are now increasing day by day. As per the latest data from National Crime Records Bureau, the crime rate against women rose from 41.7% to 53.9%, between 2011 and 2015. 3,29,243 cases were reported in 2015 alone. overall crimes against women rose from 3,29,243 in 2015 to 3,38,954 in 2016. The majority of cases categorised as crimes against women were reported under ‘Cruelty by husband or his relatives’. There is no change in Kerala’s condition also.
