Kannur Goat Farmers Producer Company

Samagra-Aadugramam (Goat Village) project was started in the financial year of 2008-09 in Kannur District, as an innovative micro enterprise promoted by the Kudumbashree Mission. The project focused on group rearing of native breeds of goats in an environment-friendly and economic manner and has caught the attention of poor rural women folk as a viable economic enterprise, helping many families to tide over conditions of acute poverty. Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission realised the scope of such a programme in a district like Kannur and later in 2015, Kannur Goat Farmers Producer Company was launched following the success of the Project. Destitute Free Kerala Survey in Idukki

Destitute Free Kerala is a project launched by Kerala Government, aims at making Kerala destitute free. Asraya is a government project designed and carry out by Kudumbashree from 2003 onwards. The project’s main objective is to rehabilitate the destitute in every LSG with the full support of the local self-governance structure. Bringing the destitute families into the mainstream of society and providing them with basic necessities such as food, housing, drinking water, sanitation, health care and clothing based on the specific needs and requirements of each of these families are also the objectives of Asraya. Government approved the second phase of Asraya on 2013. Destitute Free Kerala is a project put forward by Kerala government on 2017-18 budget.

According to the 2011 census of India, 4.84 lakhs is the Scheduled Tribe population in Kerala. Wayanad has the highest number of tribals. Idukki and Palakkad districts are the next two that make the lion portion of the native tribal people groups in the state. There are 35 tribes in Kerala. Cholanaikkans, Kurumbas, Kattunaikans, Kadars and Koragas are the five primitive tribal groups in Kerala. They constitute nearly 5% of the total tribal population in the State.
