Balasabhasangamam......

    From 23^rd to 27^th December 2002 Kudumbashree conducted a Balasabha Sangham at the historic city of Kozhikkode.  150 Balasabha functionaries from 13 districts of Kerala participated in the mega event.  Equal number of Balasabhas delegates of the host district  (Kozhikkode) welcomed them.  Each of the host took a guest to his household.  The guest children stayed with their little hosts till the end of the meet.  A string of interesting activities and programmes were there in the meet including, activity oriented learning sessions, special sessions in science and in mathematics, work experience sessions in a variety of fields, training for making toys and learning equipments, opportunity to express talents in dance, music, drama etc.  There were also opportunities to interact with renowned persons including scientists, social activists cultural doyens and men of letters.  The sanghamam was a grand success.

    The successful conduct of Balasabha sanghamam at Kozhikkode prompted the mission to organise similar sanghamams at regional level As such Balasabha sanghamams were organised at Cherthala (Alppuzha district) in the Southern Region, Aluva (Eranakulam district) in the central region & Kasargode (Kasargode district) in the Northern Region. All the three regional Balashabha sanghamams conducted from 21st December 2003 were also epoch making events for the functionaries of Kudumbashree Balashabhas.  They spent a memorable week along with their new friends from host municipalities.  A total number of 1578 children participated in the sanghamams. They got a rare opportunity to develop, sharpen and exhibit their latent talents.  

    The expanded form of Balasabha Sanghamam held at 3 regions during 2003 created the demand to conduct the festival repeatedly. During the Christmas vacation 2004 also the Balasabha Sanghamam were held at 3 different locations. In Southern Region Neyyattinkara Municipality (Thiruvananthapuram Dist.), Central Region, Pala Municipality (Kottayam Dist.) and Northern Region, Malappuram Municipality (Malappuram Dist.) hosted the Balasabha Sanghamam.  As in the previous years during 2004 also the children's meet was organised as guest/host residential pattern.  The children from all districts took part in the event in each center.
